What is Horsetail

Horsetail, also called "field horsetail" or "rat tail", is a perennial plant with two stems: some are sterile, others are fertile. The sterile stem is hollow and solid, and can measure between 50 cm and 1 meter tall. Their light green color is easy to recognize.

The fertile stems are much smaller, between 10 and 25 cm in height. Thicker than sterile stems, they are reddish brown in color. The fertile stem bears sporangia, which are the organs that produce and contain the spores necessary for the new horsetail to develop.

In order to benefit from the benefits of horsetail, their sterile stems are harvested and then supplied in different forms, such as fresh plant extracts , powders, dry extracts or even liquid extracts.

Among these forms, some can be used to prepare specific formulations, including horsetail infusions and food supplements.
